Overview

Looking for a trail run closer to Oklahoma City/Norman area?? Lake Thunderbird State Park consists of 1,874 acres located 12 miles east of Norman. Lake Thunderbird’s wonderful trail system will host distances of 100k, 50k, 25k, 12.5K, and 5k. These are fast, runnable, single track trails! Offering sleek Thunderbird awards with a 100k buckle and the aid stations you have become accustomed to at Outlaw events!

Outlaw Trail Series

Complete all 6 trail runs in the Outlaw Trail Series (Outlaw, Lake McMurtry, Greater Roadrunner Trail Run, Flower Moon, Dark and Dirty, and Thunderbird) in a calendar year and receive a cool plaque to recognize your achievement. Distance is not a factor (in other words, you can run the 5K or the 135mile). Virtual options do exist that allow runners to complete the series even if they are unable to attend an event in person. An Oklahoma-shaped plaque with hooks looks great as a display for awesome medals.

Start Times

Course Description

Located within Lake Thunderbird State Park, the course consists of single track trails that are flat and fast for a nice easy run in the woods. PRs for trail runs are very possible!

The course is a 12.5k loop with longer distances running multiples of this loop. Clear Bay aid station is hit at mile 2.1 and again at 5.6. Breakwater bay/Calypso Cove aid station is at 3.9 miles. Drop bags can be placed at both aid stations. They will be taken at the start of the race and brought back at the conclusion. If you need it before then you may drive to the aid station and pick it up.

Virtual Run

Unable to attend and still want to participate? Virtual options do exist that allow runners to obtain a coveted medal or complete the series even if they are unable to attend an event in person. We realize that other life obligations come up.

Cutoff

The cutoff for all distances is 18 hours.
